US contractor McDermott International has won the front-end engineering and design contract for QatarEnergy’s North Field South (NFS) offshore pipelines and power/FO cables project.
The new contract confirmed on Wednesday is in addition to the awards McDermott received earlier this year for the NFS jackets and topsides, and pipelines for the North Field Expansion Project (NFXP). The NFS infrastructure is part of the NFXP development and is designed to supply feed gas for two additional liquefied natural gas trains and help increase Qatar’s total LNG production from the current 77 million tonnes per annum to 126 million tpa.
