India’s state-controlled Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has unveiled an ambitious five-year offshore drilling campaign which is aimed at aggressively scaling up its efforts to explore and exploit more oil and gas resources.
The Indian giant told Upstream that it has laid down plans for drilling 110-130 wells every year in offshore shallow water and deep water areas over the five-year period.
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to cut the nation’s oil imports by at least 10% over the next few years, and state-owned giants such as ONGC have been mandated to reverse the declining domestic oil production through increased exploration and development efforts.
