Nigeria’s state oil company has signed agreements deals with key West African nations and the region’s overarching economic body to prepare the ground for the ambitious $25 billion Nigeria-to-Morocco offshore gas pipeline.
Abuja is trying to move fast on the 7000-kilometre project in an effort to ensure gas can be supplied to Europe which is rapidly switching away from Russian gas supplies. Abuja’s other plan to send gas to Europe involves laying a $13 billion pipeline from northern Nigeria to southern Algeria, via Niger, and is called the Trans-Sahara link.
