Saudi Aramco is close to finalising its preferred contractors for more than 15 engineering, procurement and construction packages, involving work on the additional onshore infrastructure required to handle the third expansion phase of its master gas system (MGS).

While fresh oilfield expansion projects in the kingdom have taken a backseat, following a recent directive from the Saudi government to pause the further expansion of its oil production capacity, Aramco’s gas-based developments are likely to gain tremendous momentum in the next year or two.

Aramco continues to execute the growth of its gas production capacity by more than 50% over 2021 levels by 2030 to meet growing demand domestically.
